Chicago Train Attack Suspect Held on Federal Terrorism Charge

A federal judge has ordered Lawrence Reed, 50, to remain in custody pending trial after he was charged with terrorism for allegedly setting a woman on fire inside a Chicago train. The incident occurred Monday night when Reed reportedly doused the victim with gasoline and set her ablaze on a Blue Line train.

Reed’s case has raised significant public safety concerns, particularly given his extensive criminal history and the fact that he was under court-ordered electronic monitoring for an unrelated battery case at the time of the attack. The federal terrorism charge filed against Reed highlights the severity with which authorities are treating this incident.
