Community Food Drives Across Illinois and Beyond Help Restock Local Pantries

Across various communities in Illinois and beyond, schools and local organizations are stepping up to help restock local pantries through food drives.

Kell Grade School’s Generous Effort

The United Way of South Central Illinois has recognized the significant contribution made by Kell Grade School. The school conducted a successful food drive that collected non-perishable items, which will help restock tiny pantries in the area.

Ridgefield Teen’s Initiative

In Ridgefield, a teenager named Ruby Weiner has partnered with local public schools to organize a month-long food drive. The initiative aims to fill ‘Ruby’s Pantries,’ providing essential support for families in need.

Other Community Efforts

Elsewhere, other communities are also rallying together:

  • In Kimberly, a high school student is holding her own food drive to benefit local pantries.
  • The Oak Middle School in Shrewsbury recently conducted a ‘necessities drive’ that helped restock their food pantry.
  • WKOW’s Feeding Hope campaign raised nearly $30,000 and collected over 5,400 pounds of food through a text-a-thon and food drive.

Habitat for Humanity’s Contribution

In Door County, Habitat for Humanity is continuing its food drive to help restock area food pantries. Donors can receive a coupon at the ReStore in Sturgeon Bay by bringing non-perishable items.
