IOWA CITY, Iowa (WCIA) – Illinois women’s basketball lost at No. 9 Iowa on Thursday.
The Illini played even with the Hawkeyes through three quarters, tied at 56 entering the fourth frame. The game was tied again with 1:30 to play, but a 4-0 run from Iowa put it in front by two possessions with less than 30 seconds to play.
Illinois could not complete a late comeback, falling 82-78.
Berry Wallace led the Illini with 21 points, while freshman Cearah Parchment scored 20 points to go along with 12 rebounds.
The Illini, after Thursday’s loss, are 19-9 overall and 9-8 in Big Ten play.
The Illini return to action for their regular season finale, at home against Minnesota, on Sunday, March 1.
According to WCIA 3, the team showed resilience throughout the game but ultimately fell short against the ranked Hawkeyes.
