CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Parts of two intersecting streets in Champaign will be closed until further notice to accommodate the third phase of construction in the Garden Hills neighborhood.
The City of Champaign announced that starting Friday, Paula Drive will close at Mattis Avenue, and there will be lane closures on Mattis Avenue as well. Northbound Mattis will see a continuous lane closure, while southbound Mattis will see intermittent closures during “daily activities.”
Vehicle access to driveways and Fire Station 5 will be maintained throughout construction, as will pedestrian access to all homes.
City officials added that construction is dependent on the weather, and it may be delayed in the event of inclement weather. More land and road closures will be announced as the project continues.
Drivers are advised to proceed cautiously and use alternate routes of travel whenever possible.
